Embarking on a Tall Timbers Adventure Tour is a truly memorable and unique experience that is available for guests and visitors alike to the "Edge of The World" region of Tasmania. The tours provide the opportunity for the adventurous to experience full-day and half-day tours of the "Edge of The World" in Tall Timber's OKA 14-seat four wheel drive vehicle.

 

These tours include the spectacular coastlines of the West Coast with views of the Woolnorth Wind Farm, a visit to Forestry Tasmania’s Dismal Swamp, and the magical experience of entering the Tarkine cool climate rain forest.

 

Full day, half-day, evening Penguin Tours, and Historic Highfield House After Dark Tours depart daily from Tall Timbers during the season, which runs typically from the beginning of September to the end of May.

Full Day Wilderness Tour

 

Tour operates every Wednesday departing at 9.00am and returning at 6.00pm. This is a full day tour that explores the remoteness of the "Edge of The World" region. It includes the magical Dismal Swamp attraction, a journey to the "Edge of The World", and an exploration of the Tarkine cool climate rainforest. Morning tea is served en-route and a spectacular gourmet lunch is also provided and enjoyed in the forest.

Half Day Wilderness Tour

 

Tour operates every Tuesday departing at 10.30am and returning at 5.30pm. The tour includes a Stanley Seal Cruise, and morning tea is served en-route together with a spectacular gourmet lunch.

Children (6-14 years): $75

 

Arthur River Cruise and Regional Tour

 

Tour operates every Thursday departing at 9.00am and returning at 5.30pm. The tour travels through some of the rugged West Coast terrain to the Arthur River, where guests undertake a cruise. A stop-off to experience the magical Dismal Swamp is also included.

Evening Penguin Tour

 

Tour operates Monday to Thursday departing at 8.00pm and returning at 10.00pm. Journey to the foreshores of Stanley and "The Nut", one of the "Edge of The World" icons, where our expert guides will introduce you to the "little penguins" in a colony that has been a drawcard for visitors for many years. This is a great tour for involving the children - a really close and very moving experience as you watch these birds go about the daily rituals of life at sea.

Highfield After Dark Tour

 

This tour operates on request. Travel to the historic homestead of "Highfield" at Stanley where you will be walked by lantern light through the property, with commentary by expert local guides. Discover the history of the Van Diemen's Land Company and the amazing stories of pioneering that where born out of this property - "dare to visit in the dark". On your return to Tall Timbers, enjoy a tea or a freshly brewed coffee with a cheese and fruit platter.
