The pristine Arthur River remains much as it has for thousands of years and defines the Tarkine Wilderness. It is the only major Tasmanian river that has not been dammed nor had its banks logged.
Enjoy the warmth and friendliness of our crew as our vessel meanders 14kms up the river. Our local skippers/guides provide a wealth of local knowledge mixed with west coast humour. We cruise through coastal heath and wet sclerophyll eucalypt forest before reaching the cool temperate rainforest at ‘Turk’s Landing’.
Guests may see azure kingfishers, wedge-tailed eagles, parrots, water birds and enjoy an encounter with white-breasted sea eagles. There are also opportunities to spot pademelons, white spotted quolls and platypus.
Enjoy morning tea on the vessel and a BBQ lunch with wine after a 45 minute guided stroll through the rainforest.
The cruise leaves Arthur River jetty at 10am and returns at 3pm.
Closed during June, July and August.
